Understanding what to expect
during implant surgery helps reduce anxiety and ensures you're fully prepared.
Here's what the process typically involves:
Consultation and planning:
You'll meet with your dentist to discuss your goals, undergo 3D imaging or CT
scans, and receive a detailed treatment plan with cost estimate.
Surgical preparation: If needed,
bone grafting or sinus lift procedures are performed 4–6 months before implant
placement to ensure adequate bone volume.
Implant placement: The titanium
implant is surgically inserted into the jawbone. Local anesthesia and sedation
options ensure comfort. The procedure typically takes 30–90 minutes per
implant.
Osseointegration: Over 3–6
months, the implant fuses with the jawbone, creating a stable foundation.
You'll wear a temporary restoration during this time.
Abutment and restoration: Once
osseointegration is complete, an abutment (connector) is placed on the implant,
and a custom crown, bridge, or denture is attached.
